Campbellton Graceville Hospital

The Campbellton-Graceville Hospital is a community-owned hospital licensed by the state of Florida as a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital. This assures that Jackson County residents have access to modern, quality health care close to home. The Campbellton-Graceville Hospital prides itself on maintaining a superior level of care equal to any 500- bed urban facility, all while retaining small-town warmth where patients are known by name.

The hospital was completed in August 1963, though the board that was established to help plan, build and operate the hospital came in short of funds. Between 400 and 500 Jackson County and area residents donated their hard-earned money—in increments of $5 to $1,500—to help complete the vital building. Thirty thousand dollars were donated in a span of 2.5 months to launch the hospital. Donors were recognized with bronze plaques decorating the interior walls.

Recently, the hospital commissioned a public perception survey, to analyze Jackson County’s knowledge of its local medical center. Responses indicated that approximately 40 percent of the participants were not aware of the myriad services available at the Campbellton-Graceville Hospital. The board of trustees and center staff are committed to informing the public of these outstanding, quality services.

Up to 25 beds are available in private and semi-private rooms with individually licensed nurses offering Acute, Sub-Acute (swing-bed) Care and Hospice services for inpatient needs. The swing-bed program is typically used in rural areas to facilitate care that ranges from initially acute levels to inpatient rehabilitation.

Rehabilitation services, such as physical and occupational therapy, also are available. Sleep and diagnostic care are offered to patients in a comfortable setting—more like a bedroom than a hospital room. Campbellton-Graceville Hospital knows the importance of a good night’s sleep, especially while patients are being monitored.

Radiology services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, as needed on an inpatient and outpatient basis, as are respiratory and laboratory services. The CLIA certified and CIOLA accredited lab is dedicated to timely and accurate testing and results. Daily specimen pickup and the newest technology allow orders to be processed with the utmost speed, ensuring that patents get results as quickly as possible.

One of the most exciting new policies has to do with Campbellton- Graceville Hospital’s emergency room, which provides 24 hour a day, seven day a week coverage in-house. When patients come to a typical ER, they expect long waits before being seen by any sort of medical professional; this is not so at Campbellton-Graceville. Each patient who visits the ER is seen by a medical professional within 30 minutes of arrival to the department— otherwise the ER visit is completely free of charge!
