Description
Jackson County Chamber of Commerce First Friday Breakfast & Speaker Series
Friday, June 4, 2010 7:00 a.m., Jackson County Agriculture Center, 2741 Pennsylvania Avenue, Marianna.
Sponsored by Waste Management
Our featured speaker for June is William W. Tuyn, Vice President & Director of Town Planning for GPI Engineering and Construction Services, GPI is headquartered in Buffalo NY, with offices throughout Florida, including on here in Marianna. Real Estate development in Florida virtually collapsed over the past few years. In addition to questions about lending and mortgage practices, the aftermath of this collapse contributed to a re-examination of real estate development practices. Bill Tuyn will be focusing his message on the future of development and town planning throughout the country, but particularly in Florida, and more specifically in Florida’s small towns. With extensive experience in the environmental and land development fields, Mr. Tuyn has over twenty-seven years experience in the design and management of land development projects and environmental assessments. He has spent significant time abroad observing and comparing development patterns, and now represents a wide range of clients throughout the country. His extensive experience on a variety of projects in diverse locations and conditions has made him a sought after lecturer, panelist and advisor on such issues as environmental permitting, development constraints, and land use planning. Bill Tuyn serves on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Home Builders, the New York State Builders Association, the New York State Research and Education Foundation, and other specialized associations. He is also an active member of the Congress for the New Urbanism. A member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, he was recently named to the Board of Advisors of Sansur Renewable Energy, Inc., a Tampa, Florida based international wind and solar energy company. Mark your calendar now for this forward focused program. Join with us as we learn how we as a community can shape our future to create desirable, well designed growth and development. Gain insights into how leading thinkers and planners perceive the future, and the opportunities those ideas present for us.
After the regular program, Bill Tuyn will hold a special workshop in the Ag Conference Center from 9:00am-10:00am for developers, realtors, architects, engineers, city and county planners, and others interested in discussing specific issues affecting development and land use in Jackson County.
