    Event Description:
    The Jackson County Branch of the NAACP is pleased to announce that preparations have begun for the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration, which will be held on January 16, 2017. All churches, organizations, schools, businesses, elected officials, etc. are welcome to participate. Our theme for this historic celebration is “Breaking the Chains of Injustice”.
     
    The celebration includes:
    7:30am: “Prayer Breakfast”:  Location: Chipola College Cultural Arts Center, 3094 Indian Circle Road, Marianna, FL; Speaker-Mr. Lamar Wilson, English Professor at the University of Alabama, poet, and 1997 Valedictorian for Marianna High School
     
    9:30am: “MLK Parade”:  The parade will start at 9:30am (line-up is at 8:30am) on Madison Street continuing on Lafayette Street and ending on Wynn Street.  There is a $10 entry fee for parade participants.  For more information, contact Mr. Leon Kelly at 850-209-4310
     
    11:30am: “MLK Worship Service”:  Location-St. James AME Church, 2891 Orange Street, Marianna, FL: Speaker-Rev. Adrian Abner, Pastor St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church.
